How To Keep Your Acne Under Control | My Skincare Routine | Affordable Skincare Products
Affordable Skincare Products
Finding the right products and routine for your skin can be quite challenging. A little while back I was dealing with acne and was determined to get my skin back right. I was thrilled once I found the products that worked just right for me, and now I want to share my routine.
I believed there are three main steps in order to get your acne under control. One is having a good cleanser. Two is having a medicated spot treatment and three is having a good mositurizer.
The cleanser I recommend is Cetaphil. It is very popular and has been around for many years. I use the Gentle Skin version because I wanted to be extra careful when trying the new cleanser. I was using it for about a month when I realized my skin wasn't improving much so I decided to take it to another level.
If you are already dealing with acne and pimples then 9 times out of 10 a cleanser alone won't clear up your skin much. I remembered hearing about benzoyl peroxide (an acne medication) when I watched skincare videos so I decided to give it a try.
I recommend using Acne Spot Treatment by Up & Up (Target Store Brand). It contains 2.5% benzoyl peroxide and has drastically improved my acne.
The product I use for my moisturization step is just good ole Vaseline. I know many people say Vaseline is not good for your face but it never causes any problems for my skin and it is what many pediatricians recommend for babies with eczema.
Applying pure petroleum jelly to my face at night makes my skin feel smooth and moisturized and I wake up with a glowy, and fresh look. If you are wary about using Vaseline for your face then I recommend using Cetaphil's Moisturizing Lotion.

Another important tip to keeping your acne under control is too make sure you use your products wisely, especially if you are using medicated products such as benzoyl peroxide.
1. Splash your face with lukewarm water.
2. Pump a decent sized amount of Cetaphil cleanser into your hands and rub gently washing your face for about 30 seconds to a minute.
3. Rinse your face thoroughly with lukewarm water.
4. Use a clean washcloth to gently pat your face dry.
5. Allow your skin to airdry for about 10 minutes before applying benzoyl peroxide spot treatment.
6. Squeeze a small amount onto your finger and apply it to your problem spots. (This product is not meant to go on your entire face.)
7. On days when my skin feels extra dry I apply a thin layer of Vaseline to my face.
